Dear Friends:

While our community in 2010 continued to suffer with record and sustained high unemployment rates, rising incidents of intimate partner abuse, shortened school days, and larger classrooms, Northwest Family Services (NWFS) was able to respond by serving 27,000 people with evidence-based services. For every dollar invested in NWFS, $0.95 cents went back to the community for programs.

In these pages, we highlight many whose actions inspired others this past year, from volunteers, to board members, staff, alumni, and current NWFS members.

Vince Lombardi’s quote is abundantly true as I look back on the many successes that have befallen us. NWFS has been fortunate to have leadership and individual commitment surrounding all of our programs and the people the non-profit has served.

In 2010, we expanded our services:

• FREE or low-cost Health Insurance for Kids - Began assisting eligible children.
• Launched CareerFit – program enhances job readiness and placement skills.
• Started Financial Literacy – program helps people use their money wisely.
• Began Parenting Inside Out – program for people in the child welfare system.

As we look toward the future, we feel great pride at the differences the organization has made in the community. We are grateful to our many donors and volunteers who made it possible for us to serve. We look forward to a productive 2011, and I hope you will take a moment to browse our report to learn more.
