Angela M. Rosson is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Oregon and the State of Washington. She has a Masters of Arts in Counseling (2002) and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology (2000) from Franciscan University of Steubenville, in Ohio. Prior to working at Northwest Family Services, she was employed for four years as a therapist for Catholic Social Services in Lincoln, Nebraska. There, she offered pregnancy and adoption counseling services, as well as general mental health counseling, to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
Angela strives to focus on the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, and to address the needs present in each of these areas. Her approach to therapy includes teaching clients how to change their thinking and behavior, while coming to understand and address developmental needs and unresolved issues that hinder their growth. Her specialties include therapy for depression, anxiety, grief, pregnancy loss, and resolution of past traumatic events that continue to negatively affect the present. She has completed training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a well-researched and highly effective therapy for overcoming trauma. She is a Level II certified EMDR therapist.
Because she believes in the dignity of each human person, Angela strives to help clients understand their human nature and to make decisions that will help them to live more authentically. Her role is as a guide in this process of growth, with the client being the primary agent of change.
