Deceptions

Meeting the Human Trafficking Challenge

Northwest Family Services (NWFS) youth development and social services charity, is an award winning, leading provider of services in support of child well-being and family stability.  NWFS has re-launched Deceptions human trafficking awareness program, and will be offering ongoing trainings surrounding this important issue.

The Deceptions program, was created at the request of local law enforcement.  Piloted at Grant High School in Portland, Oregon, this nationally acclaimed awareness program has been presented to over 15,000 local youth.  In addition, over 300 speakers haven been trained to use the Deceptions curriculum delivering this message across America to thousands more.

Human trafficking is the 2nd Largest Criminal Trade Worldwide, just below illegal drugs. Deceptions is an interactive school-based awareness curriculum for youth in middle and high schools that provides tools and builds awareness in exposing the lures of child sex trafficking and internet dangers.

How can people help?  Northwest Family Services needs your donation to help deliver the Deceptions program to more classrooms throughout the area.  NWFS is only able to continue and expand this nationally acclaimed program with generous contributors.  Also, those interested in learning more about Deceptions please contact Northwest Family Services at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. What have people been saying about Deceptions?

“Thank you so much for bringing this program to our school! I was trafficked last year when I was thirteen and had some really bad things happen to me. Girls need to know this is really happening in our community,” says a 14 year old high school student.

Vancouver Police Department’s, Sergeant John Chapman explains,  “Unfortunately, in the past two years local law enforcement has learned that domestic minor sex trafficking is a very real problem that greatly impacts our community.  It is very exciting to have a new curriculum presented in our schools that will warn our boys and girls of the dangers and consequences that lurk within innocent locations and relationships. We need to inform our kids and give them skills to recognize threats and retreat.”
