100 Best Nonprofits!

NWFS has again been voted one of Oregon's top 100 best Nonprofits to work for. This is the third year in a row we have earned this award! We couldn't do this without the support from our excellent staff. They are the ones who make our organization excellent! Thank you to them.

PreventNet

PreventNet is a coalition of social service agencies that are working together to create, enhance and sustain a seamless system of care, advocacy and supports for the well-being of children, youth, and families in Clackamas County.

PreventNet Community Schools represent a partnership between local schools and community service providers to improve academic success and reduce juvenile delinquency. In each Community School, a local non-profit provides site coordination and direct services and the school provides in-kind support (staff, classroom space and computers) and, oftentimes, funds for programming.  Northwest Family Services is responsible for Rex Putnam High School and Alder Creek, Gardiner, and Kraxberger Middle School. Other community providers also partner to provide additional essential services. The result is a robust collaboration that is able to provide a continuum of quality services to the youth and families of their communities.

Critical components to PreventNet are:

  • Improving student’s academic success.
  • Increasing community collaboration and involvement.
  • Increasing family involvement.
  • Establishing community engagement among community-based agencies, government and schools.

PreventNet community schools are funded though Clackamas County Commission for Children, Youth and Families.

In addition to the community partnerships, PreventNet provides after-school enrichment activities, special events, field trips and early risk assessment at each of our schools.  We work closely with school counselors and administration to reduce disciplinary actions, decrease negative thinking and steer youth into a more positive direction.

Also check out how you can support local students through the North Clackamas Education Foundation.
