Positive youth development focuses on young people’s strengths rather than their weaknesses. Sometimes adults view youth as “problems” to be solved, rather than as assets who can contribute back to their communities. A positive youth development will address the risky behaviors that some teens engage in by providing information, skills, motivation, and a supportive environment to equip teens to make healthful choices.
Northwest Family Services believes in the dignity of each person and its programs focus on the whole person, building self-respect and a sense of self-worth. This education also needs to connect youth with the greater society- to encourage communication and involvement within the family and community. Take a look at our topic and program offerings to see how our work truly makes a difference.
