Trafficking is any time someone is forced, tricked, or manipulated into a commercial sex act. It is not typically being physically tied or chained up.

 

Fast Facts:

  • The average age of entry into the commercial sex industry is just 12-14 years old.
  • Trafficking in the US is often a person who acts like a “boyfriend” to a female, and then prepares her or tricks or forces her into dancing in a club, or do other sex acts for money. It can also be a parent or other authority figure who uses their position of influence to coerce someone into a sex act.
